_____ by T E Vaughner
People talk about healing
Like it's some kind of persistent itch
They just can't seem to scratch well enough
But I know this not to be true
Because when you started to itch
I scratched you right out of my life
And I've never felt better
Oh yes I know it will take some time
For the swelling to go down,
The broken skin needs time to mend itself,
And the infection still oozes puss from time to time
But hey, that's what antibiotics are for
And you can barely see
All the other scars
From all the other loves
That came before
I guess it truly is a blessing to have such dark skin
