i awoke this morning / with a reservoir of tears / for you / and yet / only one / was brave enough / to crawl from my eye / as i stood / to welcome a new day / it sought to venture / beyond the lashes / that often acted / as barriers / between my emotions / and the soft feel / of my skin / this tear / strolled beyond my nose / filled the crease between my lips / tickled my chin / consoled my heart / made its way / through the valley / between my breasts / avoided capture / in my navel / then / just before reaching my nest / it drifted to the left / and moseyed on down / to a knee / that often knelt / in prayer for you / it stopped / looked back at me / and leaped to my foot / splashing each toe with its blessing / whispering / it is time to move forward / as the salty streak of you / disappeared
