__________by L. Monique

He walked over and didn’t have a clue
of what I needed and honestly -
I doubted if he could know
even if the world says he should know
even if I told him so

But I did - tell him - because I was starving
in need of nourishment
Got a serious hunger pain and sometimes
my soul craves it.... the pain
that always precedes the pleasure
you can’t order in a pub or cafe

So... I told him - Sweet & Creamy
that’s how it has to be - my Black Coffee
Hot and Soothing - waking me in the morning
wrapping me in warmth and putting me to bed at nite

sipping and wondering what it would feel like
to soar on the breeze of the steam
no one to impress - no one to be
just the same as I was born, when my life was my life
not ‘that situation’ or ‘that phase’ or another’s remedy

because, I’m not acting, not choosing~ this life
of double standards, double torments, double identities

I just need my Break.... fast, and one who knows
how to serve it right
Hot, Soothing, Nourishing and Lite
and I've found her
& together we’ll soar ~ like two birds in flight
loving forever more; whether you think it’s wrong
or right
gotta have my breakfast ~ tonite
