_____ by Tameca L. Waid

the last time we talked, I told you
I need a good hard...
well you know what I said

you told me what I need is a good
hard reality check

you tell me that I live in a fantasy world,
filled with unobtainable goals and fairy tale
romances

you're the real thing, so you say,
the one that can give me the world,
served up hot on a platter, any
way I want it

sometimes I'm intrigued by your
proposition, even want
and ache for it,

but how long will your niceties last?
would you love me hard and leave
me fast,
breaking down my defenses,
forcing me to cry, feelin like I'm going
to die in the wake of your
hurried departure

for some reason I'm sure your
type of reality only looks good
on the surface level,
if we take it into less shallow waters,
will it sink or will it float
