_____ by La Toya Hankins
I see, feel, know her
Sitting still, a regal monarch silent in voice but powerful in stature
She knows she is perfection, everything about her is fierce
Melted chocolate eyes that pour over the body when she turns her gaze unto you
Cheekbones sharp enough to cut fools to pieces yet soft enough to please a lover's hand
Lips fuller than a thousand moons, a curtain hiding her smile waiting to be called
I try not to stare at this goddess/divine
But my eyes, attention, desire is drawn to her
Her aura is like an undertow that sneaks and wraps its watery hand around your waist and pulls
you laughingly down to the bottom from which there is no return
As she shifts sensually to pay attention to a lucky soul that is not mine
I slip my eyes around her body like a silken robe to soothe my throbbing mind
Her arms and legs are portraits in perfection, testimony to beauty and strength
Who is she, this goddess/divine
Does she even need a name?
Perfection does not need to be pinned down with simple letters lined side by side
She is a walking illumination of desire who should be free of categorization
Except for one term,
Mine
But as I watch her arise from her throne I know that whatever cages of commitment I try to pin
her into, she would slip through the bars and rise like the morning sun
So I am content to bathe in her wake and watch her shine like a thousand burning stars
This goddess/divine
